Meaning, origin, history
Safwan is a traditional male given name of Arabic origin.
Meaning of the name Safwan
The name derives from the Arabic root ص ف و (ṣ-f-w), which conveys notions of clearing, smoothing, and purifying. In classical Arabic lexicography, the noun ṣafwān primarily denotes a smooth or polished stone. Figurative extensions to purity or clarity are later interpretive developments rather than established lexical definitions.
